Periodontal treatment
Periodontal treatment focuses on gum disease and maintaining the health of the structures around the teeth. Even a perfectly healthy tooth can be lost if it does not have a strong foundation. When these tissues are damaged, patients suffer periodic infections, which increases the rate of bone loss. In fact, gum disease is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults.

The two main periodontal diseases are gingivitis and periodontitis. It has been established that the main influence in the development of these diseases has accumulated dental plaque, the result of improper and irregular cleaning of the teeth.
The bacteria found in the plaque form toxic substances that irritate the gum and lead to its redness, swelling and bleeding. If this inflammation is prolonged, the gums separate from the teeth and a so-called pocket is formed. As the disease progresses, the gum and the bone around the tooth erode and this leads to tooth decay and tooth loss.
Periodontal treatment is a key aspect of maintaining oral health and preventing serious gum and tooth disease. Regular visits to the dentist and maintaining good oral hygiene are fundamental to overall health and long-lasting results.
